An introduction to Rooibos Vanilla Chai
A cup of pure indulgence, Tick Tock Rooibos Vanilla Chai is one of our most popular teas! This aromatic blend of warming spices and rooibos tea is inspired by traditional Indian chai and offers a delightfully full flavour that can be enjoyed throughout the day.
What is Chai?
The word 'Chai' is the Hindi word for 'tea' and refers to all varieties, from black tea to green tea and white tea. 'Masala Chai' is translated as 'spiced tea' and it is this warming blend that has been enjoyed throughout India for centuries. Today it is often known simply as 'chai'.
The ingredients used to make chai tend to vary from region to region and even from household to household with recipes passed down through the generations. Typically it is made using black tea, such as an Assam or Darjeeling, blended with a variety of spices, and then served with milk and sweetened with sugar or honey.
What does Vanilla Chai Rooibos taste like?
For a naturally caffeine free alternative to traditional black tea chai, we have blended delicious rooibos (or 'redbush') tea with a special mix of spices including warming ginger, fragrant cinnamon, cardamom and cloves. Being low in tannins, and therefore without bitterness, rooibos provides the ideal base for these vibrant spices. The addition of all natural vanilla from Madagascar gives a gentle velvety sweetness without the need to add sugar. Aromatic and carefully balanced, our Vanilla Chai is packed with flavour.
How to drink Vanilla Chai Rooibos
Simply add boiling water to your cup and leave the teabag to steep for around 2-4 minutes according to taste. Vanilla Chai is such a gentle tea that it can be enjoyed on its own. However if you would prefer to drink this tea in a more traditional way, it tastes equally delicious with milk.
