Is rooibos tea entirely caffeine-free?
Yes, Rooibos tea is naturally caffeine-free because the plant it derives from contains no caffeine, unlike traditional black and green teas.
Many other teas do naturally contain some caffeine. For example, a cup of black tea contains some caffeine, although usually less than in a cup of coffee; even green and white teas contain a little caffeine, as do many fizzy drinks - and even chocolate!
Black and green teas come from the Camellia Sinensis plant which contains caffeine as part of its genetic character. However, Rooibos comes from the Aspalathus Linearis shrub, part of the pea and bean family, and so contains absolutely no caffeine.
As a result rooibos tea is a great choice for anyone looking to cut their caffeine intake and still enjoy a delicious cup of tea, at any age.

What is the difference between 'Naturally Caffeine Free' and 'Decaf ' teas?
Today some tea brands offer decaffeinated teas. These are black teas that have undergone a process to remove their caffeine, either using a chemical solvent or carbon dioxide to strip the caffeine from the tea leaves. However even after processing, some decaf teas still contain low levels of caffeine, because the caffeine cannot ever be fully removed.
Unlike decaf, Rooibos tea does not undergo any of this processing as the leaves have no caffeine in their biological make-up. At Tick Tock we have carefully crafted a selection of delicious rooibos teas using all-natural flavourings, so you have a wide choice of caffeine free rooibos tea to enjoy at any time of day.

Caffeine consumption
Caffeine is a natural stimulant that affects the brain and can make us feel more awake and alert.
Whilst caffeine doesn’t necessarily have a negative effect when consumed in moderation, too much caffeine can cause health problems such as heart palpitations and tremors.
It can also impact our sleep, especially if you have caffeinated drinks in the evenings when your body should rather be winding down and getting ready to rest. In some instances caffeine should not be consumed at all, for example pregnant women are advised to avoid caffeine altogether.
