We’ve been making headlines!
Rooibos, also known as Redbush, was recently featured in Channel 4’s popular “Food Unwrapped” food and science television series. Dubbed the “Summer Diet Special”, the programme explored all things rooibos with a particular focus on “the secret ingredient in redbush tea that could help us burn fat.” With the great British public eager to get themselves ready for the summer, the story quickly spread and was picked up by the Mail Online. Not long ago, TIME magazine even listed rooibos as one of the 50 healthiest foods of all time!
We are delighted! As the founders of rooibos tea (Grandfather Benjamin Ginsberg first perfected the brew in 1903) and Britain’s favourite rooibos brand, we at Tick Tock have long been champions of this very special brew. Naturally caffeine free, low in tannins, rich in antioxidants and blessed with the unique aspalathin compound, rooibos is packed full of natural goodness. Found only in South Africa’s magnificent Cedarberg mountains north of Cape Town, rooibos is still harvested by hand and cured in the traditional way.
As “rooibos science” gathers steam, the growing body of research is starting to reveal a broad range of potential benefits – while the Food Unwrapped team highlighted the “reduction in fat accumulation” associated with frequent consumption, the UK’s Tea Advisory Panel draws attention to the tea’s traditional use “to relieve infant colic, allergies, asthma and dermatological problems.”
But there’s much more to rooibos than an impressive set of health credentials! Tick Tock’s deep colour and full taste make a truly delicious cup of tea – we’ve won no less than 5 Great Taste awards. The gentle, hydrating brew can be enjoyed with or without milk, at any time of the day, and also tastes great with lemon or as an iced tea with mint. Beyond the much loved Original, Tick Tock also offers a range of other exciting rooibos tea flavours, including the refreshing Green Rooibos, the luxurious Vanilla and the fragrant Earl Grey. So there’s a Tick Tock to suit every age and occasion!
As a family-owned and operated company, we have been making rooibos tea for over 100 years. In fact, we were the first to introduce the tea to the British market in 1976. It’s this unbroken tradition and the expertise gathered over many decades that allows Tick Tock to maintain the high levels of quality for which we have become known.
So come on and try a cup! Or six… and have a great Summer.
